ALEXANDER F.13 FLANGER
Leave it to Alexander Pedals to base its new F.13 Flanger not on existing technology, but rather the technology of alien life forms. It's this type of creativity that makes the F.13 so unique and so fun to play.
For starters, there are three modes: Step, Sweep and Dynamic.
Step: Forces the LFO into eight "steps" for a staggered flange sound rather than a smooth one. This creates a "sample-and-hold" type effect, only applied to flanging rather than a filter. In this mode, the Depth knob controls how the stepping works; up, down, down and up, and random.
Sweep: This is the "standard" mode of the F.13, utilizing a "hypertriangular" waveform for more a more "flange-y" sweep.
Dynamic: If anything on the F.13 inspired the "alien technology" bit, this is it. In this mode, signal strength determines the flanger's delay time; i.e., the harder you pick, the more the delay time varies until decay. In this mode, the Depth knob controls in which direction the sweep will occur.
Of course, the F.13 simply wouldn't be a flanger without a Regen (feedback) knob, and this one is special; at noon, there is zero feedback. Turning it clockwise gives players positive (normal) feedback, but turning it counter-clockwise generates negative feedback for a scooped, hollow tone that truly conjures images of alien visitors.
